Hinesville woman killed in auto accident

A woman was killed Saturday night in a two-car accident when her vehicle was struck head on, according to authorities.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Sgt. David Laff of Post 11 in Hinesville, a 71-year-old Hinesville woman was traveling on Arnall Drive in a Chevy Equinox when she was hit head on by a 28-year-old Ludowici man operating a Chevy Silverado failed to maintain his lane as they approached Godfrey Road SE.

The woman was transported to Memorial Health University Medical  Center in Savannah where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Silverado was also transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

GSP Trooper Stephen Jones and the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) are investigating the accident.
