HINESVILLE, Ga. (Dec. 21, 2020) – For the fourth consecutive year, the Hinesville Police Department is helping citizens keep burglars at bay this holiday season by hosting a crime prevention initiative called Trash Collection for Your Protection. “Everyone loves to get that new television for Christmas, but when you place the empty box on the curb outside of your home, you don’t realize that you are flashing an advertisement to burglars,” said Hinesville Chief of Police Bill Kirkendall. Beginning Wednesday, December 23, large dumpsters will be placed at Highway 84 and Frasier Dr. across from McDonalds and in the parking lot of the old hospital for citizens to drop off empty holiday gift boxes. The dumpsters will remain in place until Thursday, December 31. PLEASE NOTE: Christmas trees, household garbage, yard waste or other such items are not allowed.
