HAAC Logo

(Hinesville, GA) In Spring 2021, the Liberty County School System will partner with the Hinesville Area Arts Council (HAAC) on a Fine Arts program called Heart & Soul. The HAAC was awarded a $5,000 Vibrant Communities grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts. Together with $5,000 in matching funds from the HAAC, the grant totals $10,000. The program will feature outdoor visual arts and music exhibitions to include jazz, blues and soul performances. As part of this program, a visual arts exhibit will be on display during the performance and will focus on art with soul and feeling within the community. Schools will have student created and produced visual, theatrical, or musical arts to fit the theme of how jazz, blues and soul music can create healing and inclusivity within the community. A musical piece performed in conjunction with the visual arts exhibit will include instrumentals and vocals. Samone Norsworthy, Ed. D., Board Member for the HAAC, will serve as a mentor to selected students and adults from March 2021 until May 2021. Lela Stokes-Dickens, LCSS educator, will facilitate creativity sessions with students. For more information, contact Lela Stokes-Dickens, Gifted Facilitator K-12, at 912-369-3178 lstokesdickens@liberty.k12.ga.us.
