Liberty County commissioners recognized March as Red Cross Month, issuing a proclamation to Karen Bell, Red Cross of Southeast Georgia board of directors member, and area executive director Maria Center. 

The Southeast Georgia chapter serves 18 counties. 

Bell said she’s even used her Red Cross training on a couple of occasions to help a family member who was choking. 

Center said the Red Cross also provides fire safety education and smoke alarm installations in neighborhoods deemed to be high risk for fires. Center also said the Red Cross has filled the vacant Armed Forces Regional Program Manager with Katie Davis.
