A Liberty County man serving 25 years for a 2012 stabbing death was found dead at his prison over the weekend, according to reports.

Travon Walthour, who was serving a voluntary manslaughter sentence for the 2012 stabbing death of Terry Floyd Jr., reportedly was killed Sunday at Hancock State Prison in east Georgia.

Walthour pled guilty in 2014 to voluntary manslaughter and robbery for the 2012 death of Floyd. He had been charged with four counts of murder, one count of aggravated assault, two counts of robbery and two counts of tampering with evidence stemming from a drug deal that went awry.

Walthour was supposed to sell Floyd and a friend $600 worth of marijuana. Walthour did not have the correct amount, and when Floyd questioned the size and quality, Walthour and an accomplice, Jonathan Mathew Robertson, tried to run away with the money.

A scuffle ensued, and Floyd retrieved a knife from his pocket. But Walthour overpowered him and took the knife, eventually using it to stab Floyd.

Robertson pled guilty in November 2013 and received a 10-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
