Liberty Regional Medical Center has been honored with the Gold Safety Award from the Georgia Hospital Association Workers’ Compensation Self-Insurance Fund. This achievement showcases the dedication and commitment of the LRMC team to fostering a safe and healthy environment for both staff and patients throughout the 2024 calendar year. Each year, LRMC conducts a safe patient handling gap analysis and regularly assess workplace injuries to ensure that the team remains safe and well-supported. LRMC’s analysis identified strains lifting or transferring patients as an opportunity for improvement.

In response, the safety team collaborated with the rehabilitation team in the hospital to produce engaging videos on safe patient handling techniques. These informative videos illustrate the proper methods for lifting or transferring patients using essential equipment such as gait belts, Hoyer Lifts, and walkers. They are now mandatory for all employees to view annually, enhancing safety and confidence in patient care.

Additionally, LRMC’s infection prevention and employee health nurses offer valuable education whenever an injury occurs, further reinforcing LRMC’s commitment to a safe workplace.
