The owner of a local business donated $25,000 to the Family Readiness Group fund at Fort Stewart on Tuesday.
Greg Woolard of Clyde's Market presented 3rd Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch with the check during a brief ceremony at the Family Readiness Center. The money will be deposited in the Family Readiness Group Supplemental Mission Activity account.
Lynch thanked Woolard for his generosity and stressed the significance of the donation.
"There's nothing more important that I can do right now than to tell you thank you," Lynch said. "We could focus on the mission over there because you were focused on the families here. This (donation) will make a lot of difference in a lot of people's lives."
Woolard was humbled by the general's thanks and expressed his gratitude for the soldiers and Army families of the 3rd ID and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield. Woolard said the donation he made today is his way of expressing that gratitude for their service to the nation.
"I'm thanking you guys for what you do," Woolard said. "It makes me feel good to do it."
Clyde's Market is headquartered in Glennville. The local business has donated three times previously to the installation.
