Sue Woods was recently selected as the winner of a new boat and trailer in the Fishin’ for a Cure boat raffle.

Woods won a 2015 Alumacraft boat, a 25-horsepower Yamaha motor and trailer.

Committee member Dennis DeLoach drew Woods’ winning ticket at the annual Long County Chamber of Commerce banquet.

DeLoach said more than $10,000 was raised during the raffle and that all of it will go to help kids who have a debilitating disease.

The annual fishing tournament is put on by the Long County Sheriff’s Office and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division of the Department of Public Safety. Last year, more than $77,000 was given out.

This year will be the fifth year of the pan-fish tournament, and sponsors are still needed.
