Hinesville entrepreneur and philanthropist Gary W. Dodd died about 2 a.m. Saturday.

In addition to owning and operating eateries in the area, Dodd, who moved to the area more than 30 years ago, was known for his community support and was named Humanitarian of the Year in 2011 by the Kirk Healing Center.
