The founder of a Coastal Georgia and Lowcountry dental group presented the Hinesville Rotary Club with $1,500 toward its 2012 high school scholarships Tuesday.

The Howard Dental Group founder Dr. John Howard presented the check on behalf of Hinesville Howard Family Dental dentists, Dr. Daisy Broadhead and Dr. Steve Schmitt.

Howard said he learned about the scholarship last year and agreed to match funds the club raised toward the scholarships.

“I really appreciate your endeavors to make a difference in your community and help children,” Howard said. “And that is what we really embrace with Howard Family Dental in many different ways.”

The group chose to give the money as a way of supporting and giving back to the community, he said.

The Hinesville Rotary Club’s scholarship is open to any graduating high school senior who lives in Liberty County and attends Bradwell Institute, Liberty County High School or First Presbyterian Christian Academy. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student from each school.

Applications are available at the guidance office at each school and are due Tuesday, April 24. For more information, call Jeff Ricketson at 864-408-2070.
