A winter weather advisory is still in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the Liberty County Emergency Management Agency, and the agency is asking residents not to drive if it isn't necessary.
Road conditions remain dangerous due to black ice, and a number of accidents have been reported in Liberty and Long counties. In addition, freezing temperatures mean wind chills from 8 to 12 degrees.
If you have to travel, LEMA recommends taking along a flashlight, food and water.
Local governments and both Liberty and Long county schools have announced they will remain closed Thursday.
