Ludowici will host its first Martin Luther King Jr. Parade at 10 a.m. Jan. 10. Long County MLK Observance Committee member Mary Hamilton said that the parade’s theme is “Living the Dream, Where Do We Go from Here.” She said that participants may walk, drive a vehicle, ride a horse or enter a float. The deadline to enter the parade is Jan. 3, and the line-up time is 9 a.m.
Committee treasurer Dewitt Porter said that after the parade, a program will take place at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. She said that the program will include singing, a skit and a guest speaker. Porter said the skit will have several characters who worked with King during the civil-rights movement. Hamilton said people or groups can enter the parade by mailing their information to Leroy and Beverly Hill at P.O. Box 890, Ludowici, GA 31316, or emailing to hillbeverly90@gmail.com. Hamilton said she can be reached at 912-302-4249 for more information on the parade and program.
