The victim of a Sunday shooting in Walthourville has been identified as Kevin Bacon, Walthourville Police Chief Terry Harget said Tuesday afternoon. The incident happened at 1 Jones Court near Hillary Lane in Walthourville.

Bacon, who reportedly had been visiting the residence at the time, was talking with four friends in the backyard when an unidentified assailant shot Bacon once in the left shoulder shortly after 5 p.m.

According to an incident report filed by Walthourville Police Officer Michael Dumas, a .45-caliber gun was used in the assault, and a single cartridge was recovered from the scene.

Bacon was flown to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where he was treated and released. At this point, Harget said, investigators have no motive or leads in the case.
