Nobles to face Ballance in Nov. sheriff's race

In Long County, Craig Nobles won the Democrat nod for the sheriff’s post with 1,404 votes. Frank McClelland Jr. garnered 704 votes while James E. Rogers took 152. Nobles will face Republican challenger G. Darrell Ballance in November. Sherry McFann Long beat Frank Middleton for the superior court clerk seat, 1,115 to 1,100. Becky S. Fowler beat Deona Walker Carter in the tax commissioner race, 1,625 to 588. In the county commission races, Gerald Blocker, Robert A. Long and Dwight Gordon defeated their challengers for the District 1, District 2 and District 5 seats, respectively. Two commission candidates, Andy Fuller and Clifton DeLoeach, were uncontested.

 

Long County passed TSPLOST 1,420 votes to 1,030.
