irma power out

A tree fell across two power lines on Highway 84 in Hinesville on Sunday night, causing a power outage from roughly Gen. Stewart Way east toward McLarry's Curve.

Georgia Power has been notified and is working to restore power, an official said.

Power has been out since approximately 9:15 p.m.

It is the first power outage reported as bands of rain and wind from Hurricane Irma roll into the area.

According to the Liberty Emergency Management Agency, up to 8-10 inches of rain are expected to fall between tonight and Monday. Residents are asked to continue to monitor the storm and stay off roads.
