Update: Closures and openings

Here are a few updates on closures and locations that plan to open later today:

Opening later today: Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Campus in Savannah, Statesboro Campus, Liberty Campus in Hinesville, Herty Advanced Materials and Development Center, and Coastal Georgia Center will reopen at noon on Thursday, Jan. 4.

Remain closed:

The Liberty County School System will be closed to both staff and students Friday. All athletic activities for Friday are also cancelled. Staff and students should plan to report back to work/school on Monday.  

Live Oak Public Library Branches in Liberty, Chatham and Effingham Counties remain closed today.

VA Clinic

The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center outpatient clinics at the downtown campus and VA’s clinics in Hinesville, Goose Creek, Beaufort, Savannah and Myrtle Beach, and the Trident Annex will be closed for patient appointments on Friday, Jan. 5 due to inclement winter weather.  Patients with appointments at these clinics will be contacted to reschedule.  If you cannot wait to reschedule call the TAP line at 1-888-878-6884. 

Charleston VAMC’s inpatient services and Emergency Department will be open throughout the weather event.  Eligible Veterans with a VA ID card, needing emergency supply of medications, can go to any retail pharmacy open to the public for a seven-day supply of non-controlled substance prescriptions.  Essential personnel should report to the VA as scheduled.   

For emergency prescription refills, eligible Veterans may go to any community pharmacy with a written prescription or an active VA prescription bottle.  The bottle must not be older than 90 days and must have refills available.  If the Veteran does not have their bottle they can go to the retail pharmacy with their VA ID and have the pharmacist call Heritage Health Solutions Customer Care Center at 866-265-0124. A seven-day supply of medication will be provided for non-controlled substances. Veterans should bring the Heritage Health Solutions phone number (866-265-0124) with them to the pharmacy. If a Veteran patient has an emergency need for prescription fills or refills that cannot be obtained through a community pharmacy, the Charleston VA Medical Center Emergency Department is opento assist with emergency medication requirements. 

Employees and Veteran patients can stay up-to-date with the most recent medical center and outpatient clinic statuses by visiting the Charleston VAMC website at www.charleston.va.gov or following the medical center on Facebook at VAMCCharleston or on Twitter at CharlestonVAMC.

The City of Hinesville remains closed today and their regular council meeting will be rescheduled. The City of Hinesville will return to normal operating hours Friday. 

On Friday, the City will collect garbage for Wednesday's and Thursday's routes and Friday's route will be collected on Saturday. Yardwaste collection has been suspended and will resume on Monday along with our normal solid waste operations.

Liberty County Offices will remain closed tomorrow and resume routine hours on Monday, per county Administrator Joey Brown.

To ensure the safety and security of our members and staff, all following YMCA of Coastal Georgia facilities will remain closed on Thursday, January 4th:

Effingham YMCA, Habersham YMCA, Islands Family YMCA, Liberty County YMCA, Richmond Hill YMCA, Statesboro Family YMCA, Tybee Island YMCA and West Chatham YMCA. All full-time child care sites, before and after school programs and programming will be canceled at these locations today.
