Editor's note: The below email was sent out by Long County Schools superintendent Dr. Robert Waters this morning. It wasn't posted sooner due to lack of access to emails at the Courier office.   

After considering all of the factors; safety, electric power, food, operational conditions of buildings and the total condition of the entire county, Long County School System will be closed on Tuesday October 11, 2016.

We will assess all of the factors again on Tuesday morning to determine the possibility of having school on Wednesday October 12, 2016.
