Liberty Regional Medical Center Associates Primary Care Midway Campus celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting Tuesday. The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce hosted the event. The new primary care facility is at 586 Islands Highway in Midway.

Hospital executives and community leaders, along with elected officials, spoke about the importance of having a primary care in that location.

“Everyone one has heard the saying ‘Good things come to those who wait.’  Our Midway campus has been in the works for many, many years, but we are so excited this day is finally here,” Liberty County Hospital Authority Chairman James Rogers said. “I am so proud of the facility which has been constructed and the team of medical professionals we have put together to serve Midway and the surrounding areas. I think you will find both to be first class. Thank you to the Liberty County Board of Commissioners for seeing the importance of providing healthcare to the citizens on our East End, and thank you to the voters for approving funding through SPLOST. It is amazing what can be accomplished one penny at a time.”

“We are extremely excited about the opening of our Midway campus,” LRMC CEO Mike Hester said. “The clinic will provide more convenient access to primary care healthcare services for individuals and industry located on the East end of Liberty County, and the surrounding counties of Bryan and McIntosh. Liberty Regional Medical Center would like to thank the citizens of Liberty County and the Liberty County Board of Commissioners for making this clinic a reality with their support of SPLOST. Liberty Regional Medical Center understands that we must grow along with our community and provide services that enhance the quality of life for our population. We are committed to this mission.

“Lastly, I would like to recognize our two outstanding health care providers that will be located at Liberty Regional Medical Associates Primary Care Midway Campus:  Dr. Amethyst Wilder, a board-certified family physician, and Lisa Crews, a board-certified nurse practitioner. We look forward to serving you,” Hester said.

Rogers introduced U.S. Congressman Buddy Carter, the only pharmacist currently serving in Congress, who spoke about the importance of having a medical facility in Midway.

State Rep. Al Williams said the clinic would have a positive impact on rural residents who might not have transportation to healthcare providers in Hinesville.

Liberty County Commission Chairman Donald Lovette, Commissioner Marion Stevens and Midway Mayor Levern Clancy agreed the clinic will be an asset for the Midway community and for residents in neighboring Bryan and McIntosh counties.
