At the meeting District Commander Dennis Fitzgerald of Riceboro will install Legion members as district officers for the ensuing year; Senior Vice Commander George Walker of Post 154, Tybee Island; Junior Vice Commanders A.J. Schmitt of Post 321, East Liberty County, Joe Garica of Post 322, West Chatham, Don Hall of Post 103, Swainsboro and James Milbourne of Post 500, Savannah. Fitzgerald said numerous programs, such as the law enforcement officer and fire service member of the year will be discussed. Also to be discussed will be ways to support service members who are returning to harm’s way and how to support the loved ones left behind.
The commander said the Legion has several ways of providing supports for soldiers, their families and all of America’s veterans and is looking forward to working not only with members of the Legion, but with the service members and veterans themselves. If any veteran or service member needs assistance, he encourages them to seek out a post and ask its service officer to help.
