Sheriff receives honor for relationship with military

Liberty County Sheriff Don Martin accepted a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office for the force's continued steadfast devotion to the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield communities. Signed by Garrison Commander Colonel Todd Buchs, the certificate honors the relationship the sheriff's office has cultivated with the military, which is critical to Fort Stewart's and HAA's designations as southern living stations of choice. According to Sgt. Maj. Max Brown of the Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Stewart, Liberty and the surrounding counties have enjoyed a great police relationship with the sheriff's office for years, and the military felt it was time to recognize the department for their efforts.
"It's been a long while since we actually reached out and said thanks," Brown said.
