Holiday nets big catches

Hello, everybody. Ol’ Tight Line here and I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I’m glad I waited until after Thanksgiving to write the article because I got some good reports over the holiday weekend.

Jake Horten and party caught the limit on trout and it was a nice catch. That goes to show you never know what you might catch when you are just putting along.

Rayburn at Yellow Bluff said he had several boats out during the holiday weekend and they all caught fish, mostly trout.

Two co-captains on the dock tour fared well. Lu Smith and Daddy George caught 22 trout on Saturday, and on Sunday, Big George and "Anchor Man" Guy Browning netted 15 trout.

I talked to Barney at Sunbury Crab Company and Marina and he said plenty of fish were caught out in that area over the holiday weekend as well.

My man Big Jimmy and Nat Jones had 16 sheepshead, 15 trout, two spottail bass and 30 whiting. Then Big Jimmy went solo and caught the limit on large four- to five-pound trout on Friday and Saturday.

On Sunday, Big Jimmy and Ron Carter netted the limit on sheepshead. One was 13 pounds and another was 14, which could be a record for the "King of the Sheep."

Well folks, Yellow Bluff has live shrimp and minnows, and Rayburn said fiddlers are coming soon. Halfmoon Marina has live shrimp, and the Sunbury Crab Company has minnows and live shrimp coming at low tide.

Big Rudy at Sunbury Country Store has frozen shrimp and squid.

So, remember what Ol’ Tight Line says and get out there and go fishing. And if you do, always remember to keep a tight line. I always say hit the docks, keep a sharp eye and watch that cork go down.

It’s always a good time to wet a hook.

Your friend,

Tight Line Jr
