On February 24, Cub Pack 581 held its Blue and Gold Ceremony at the Limerick Masonic Lodge No. 437 located in Freedman Grove.
Annually celebrated by boy and cub scouts nationwide, the Blue and Gold Ceremony recognizes the organization’s founding on February 8, 1910. The event affords scouts the opportunity to present awards, recognize parent volunteers, and thank supporters of the local program. Cub Pack 581 members practiced weeks in advance and presented an impressive program under the leadership of Cub Master Herman L. Baker, and program planner and Den Leader Shanetra Robertson.
Scout members and awardees include Liam Mendosa, Jaylen Anderson, Charles Ben Opper, Mekhari Bacon, Stephen Noah Mullice, Jaxson Armbrister, Jase Slade, Brock Peterman, Jarrius Robertson, Cayden Stevens, Ryan Damewood, Christopher Jones, Owen Armbrister, Julian Lowe, and Elijah Forrest.
The Pack also honored two of its adult leaders. Shanetra Robertson was recognized for serving nearly a decade in several den leadership positions, and Sarah P. Baker was honored for her committee work and Pack support for over 40 years. Awards were presented by Eric Falls, Atlantic District Executive for Boy Scouts of America Coastal Georgia Council. Parent volunteer Belinda Slade closed the ceremony with a brief history of the event.
Cub Pack 581 is co-sponsored by the Cosmopolitan Civic Club and Limerick Masonic Lodge No. 437 (Prince Hall-Affiliate). Club President John D. Lewis and Limerick Lodge Worshipful Master Gerald Williams were in attendance.
