Parade deadline is Friday

The theme for this year’s Liberty County Chamber of Commerce;s 12th annual Christmas parade is “Christmas in the USA” in honor of the troops returning home, and the early-bird deadline, which gets participants a discounted price, is Friday.
Groups interested in creating a float should dedicate it to a specific state and its culture. Kenny Smiley, executive director of the Chamber, said when decorating a float it’s also important to keep in mind the parade’s dedication to creativity, originality, and diversity.
“We like to think our parade is the best in the Southeast, Smiley said. “It’s one of the Chamber’s highlights to be able to offer the parade to Liberty County.”
The parade will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, and will travel down the main streets of downtown Hinesville. WTOC will televise the parade and Dawn Baker will be the featured commentator.
Those interested should call Debbie Willingham to register and to find out which states still are available. The chamber will judge the floats and present trophies to the winners based on creativity.
