Superior Court Judge D. Jay Stewart of the Atlantic Judicial Circuit Felony Drug Court recently announced that the drug court now is fully certified and eligible to receive state grant funding in fiscal years 2015 and 2016. The Atlantic Judicial Circuit Felony Drug Court has been in operation since January 2009 and has been providing taxpayers savings and quality services to its participants in Liberty, Long, Tattnall, Bryan, McIntosh and Evans counties. Funding would provide for treatment costs, community supervision, drug and alcohol testing kits and administrative costs.
By receiving certification, the Atlantic Judicial Circuit Felony Drug Court can provide the opportunity to make a difference in participants’ lives by offering its program as an option to help fight addiction to drugs and alcohol. It also saves the community money by helping participants to create a new life plan as an alternative to incarceration.
