With former Hurricane Harvey tracking north, northeast along the Mississippi River, storm trackers are turning attention to Irma, which was upgraded to hurricane status Thursday morning.

“We wanted to let everyone know that we have been watching Tropical Storm Irma, as of this morning it was been upgraded to a hurricane,” an advisory from the Liberty County Emergency Management Agency said.

Irma is too far out for any predictions of impact on the U.S. If it does come toward us, it would be at least late next week before it threatened.
