A flashflood watch has been issued for Liberty County and the rest of our area by the National Weather Service.
The watch was issued this morning and will continue until Saturday evening, according to the Liberty County Emergency Management Agency.
"A complex storm system will impact the region through tonight, spreading areas of heavy rainfall across Southeast Georgia and Southeastern South Carolina," a report from the service at 1:40 p.m. said. "The rain is expected to coincide with significant astronomical tides later this evening, which could worsen potential flooding along immediate coastal areas."
The worst of the rain in our area is expected to start in late afternoon or evening and could drop 2 to 4 inches.
"Flooding could occur quickly, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas," the service warns. "Driving could become hazardous as some area roadways could become impassable due to high water."
