Forestry meeting on wildfires

In response to an unusually severe wildfire season, the Georgia Forestry Commission will host a town-hall meeting called “After the Smoke Clears” from 6-8 p.m. May 11 at the Long County High School cafeteria in Ludowici.
The purpose of the meeting is to help landowners deal with the effects of the fires and understand assistance opportunities available.
More than 43,000 acres burned in southeast Georgia in March, creating economic and environmental damage. Landowners affected by the fires are invited to learn more about timber evaluation, management and reforestation at the upcoming session.
