Expect delays getting onto post

Security at Fort Stewart's gates has been tightened following a directive sent out by the Department of Defense.
"The safety and security of our soldiers, families, Army civilians, and others who work on or visit Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield is a priority for installation leadership," Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson said. "We monitor for any threats or concerns to the installation, and adjust security appropriately. While we can confirm that we have increased security measures here in response to directives from the Department of Defense, we will not discuss the specific measures put in place."
Larson added some of the security measures initiated "will be obvious" when people approach installation gates and will result in delays getting onto post.
He said Fort Stewart officials are asking "our neighbors in the community, soldiers' families and other civilians to be patient."
Larson emphasized the increase in security is occurring at all Department of Defense installations.
Osama bin Laden, the notorious head of the terrorist organization al-Qaida, was killed by U.S. Special Forces in Pakistan on Sunday. American officials have warned there could be retaliation from terrorist groups and the U.S. and its allies must remain vigilant.
