A resident who lives in the Long County home where a man’s body was found early Wednesday shot him, not previously aware that the man was in the home, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The GBI released a statement Thursday saying that the Long County Sheriff’s Office had requested the GBI Kingsland office’s assistance investigating a death that occurred at 205 Taylor Creek Spur NE.

Brandon Ray Younker, 23, was shot by a resident who had been unaware of Younker’s presence in the home, but the occupants did know Younker, the GBI said.

The exact circumstance surrounding Younker’s death is still being investigated, according to the GBI.

When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office, the GBI said.

Younker’s body was found in the home at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles.
