Home burns in Happy Acres
web Happy Acres Fire

Hinesville Fire Department Lt. Earnest McDuffie (in front) and Cpt. Chris Moss poke through the ashes of a home Saturday morning in Happy Acres mobile home park on Kelly Drive.

The fire began just after 3 a.m., Moss said.

When firefighters arrived, they found the unoccupied home on lot 217 engulfed.

Moss couldn’t say what caused the fire and it is being investigated.

In recent weeks, residents of the park have been plagued by smoke and Monday had to be evacuated because of a flare up from the Terrill Mill Pond peat bog fire near the park.
