A Ludowici man was killed early Sunday morning while riding a motorcycle in Walthourville, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Trooper Lyle Thurmond said the man, identified as Jessy Florez, 44, was traveling on Shaw Road to his Ludowici home.
Florez was driving westbound on his 2013 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle when he lost control while negotiating a curve at Shaw and Slaten roads, Thurmond said.

Thurmond said that as Florez approached the curve, he went off the road, causing the right foot rest to hit the ground and spinning the bike 180 degrees.

Florez was ejected and possibly struck his head on the handle bars. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Thurmond said.

The accident is under investigation.
