The suspect in a shooting in which the victim later died now faces a charge of malice murder, according to Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Detective Chris Reed.

Nathaniel Greene of Midway now is also charged with seven counts of aggravated assault and one count of third-degree cruelty to a child in which Greene reportedly allowed a child to witness a forcible felony crime, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies. He is being held without bond in the Liberty County Jail.

Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes said Brad Covington was shot during an Oct. 24 altercation at a home on Holmestown Road. Covington was taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he died at 6 a.m. Monday, Sikes said.
