broken car window

A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured Saturday afternoon in Hinesville.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper, Carl Hutchinson, Christopher Freeman, 26 of Hinesville was attempting to cross Highway 196 near Live Oak Drive about 3:15, when he was struck by a vehicle.

Hutchinson said Freeman tried to run into the turning lane, but ran into the path of a woman driving a 2007 Honda Accord. After striking Freeman the woman stopped to provide aid.

Freeman was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, suffering from trauma to his head. He was later flown to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah by an Air Evac medical helicopter, where he is listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit.

The woman was not injured.

No charges will be filed, according to Hutchinson.
