A Walthourville woman was seriously injured Saturday afternoon during a domestic dispute when she attempted to stop her husband from leaving and was run over.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Lyle Thurmond said the incident took place at the couple’s home in the Norris Subdivision Mobile Home Park on Arnall Drive.

Thurmond said the woman jumped onto the passenger side of the vehicle as her husband was backing off and slid off the vehicle. Her left leg sustained a serious injury below the knee. 

The woman, who was alert, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.

The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. The Walthourville Police Department also is investigating.
