Law officers and soldiers are searching in Hinesville for a 20-year-old soldier who is believed to be a danger to himself.
Hinesville Police reported Wednesday evening that a search for the soldier started about 5 p.m., after his vehicle was found in the area of Oak Crest Road.
He reportedly lives on post and authorities said he called superiors in his unit this afternoon, threatening to commit suicide. When his vehicle was found, his cell phone and keys were inside.
Soldiers from his unit, HPD officers and a helicopter from Georgia State Patrol are searching woods in the area were the vehicle was found.
The soldier is described as white, 5'9", 200 pounds with blue eyes and red hair.
