The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office conducted a firearms safety class on Feb. 6.

The 12 participants were given instruction in the classroom prior to shooting their private guns on a range. The classroom instruction, given by Capt. David Edwards and Capt. Keith Jenkins, covered topics such as weapons safety, gun laws and weapons retention.

Sheriff Steve Sikes said he “wanted to raise awareness about gun safety with Liberty County citizens.”

Sikes also said more gun safety classes will be scheduled, and interested citizens can go to www.libertyso.com for the dates.
