A single vehicle accident in Long County sent a driver to a hospital in Savannah today.
According to Ludowici/Long County Volunteer Fire Fighter Ray Purcell, the accident happened around 4 p.m. on Georgia Highway 196 near George Swindle road.
Purcell said when the fire department responded to the scene they encountered an overturned truck hauling used cooking oil with the driver trapped inside. According to Purcell, firefighters had to extricate the man using the jaws of life.
The driver, who was conscious and alert, was airlifted to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah where his condition is unknown.
