A deadly crash on Highway 84 on Monday night, May 18, 2020, in Liberty County reportedly took the life of a Fort Stewart soldier.

A Fort Stewart soldier was reportedly killed in a three-vehicle wreck late Monday night on Highway 84 near Liberty County High School and the Liberty County School System bus barn.

Two victims were flown by helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center.

Liberty County Fire Services Chief Brian Darby said rescue units dispatched from Lake George found a pickup with one occupant, a four-door sedan and a tractor trailer at the scene of the wreck.

The Fort Stewart soldier, who was one of two people in the sedan, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Markus White.

Units from the Hinesville Fire Department as well as the Liberty County Sheriff's Office and Hinesville police department were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance. The road was closed in both directions for several hours while members of the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) investigated the accident.
