COLUMBUS — A Columbus church hit the jackpot when someone put an $80,000 winning lottery ticket in an offering plate.

The Cathedral of Prayer Inc. cashed in the winnings last week. Chief financial officer Gloria Rodgers said the organization has received lottery tickets before, but this is the largest single donation.

Rodgers said the donation will go toward fixing the organization's air conditioning, which broke three weeks ago when burglars stripped the unit of its copper wiring. She said the church is "just thrilled."

The winning ticket was bought at a Columbus convenience store.
