ATLANTA (AP) -- Georgia is preparing to execute it's second death row inmate in less than three weeks.

Samuel David Crowe is scheduled to be put to death Thursday night. His lawyers will ask the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles Thursday morning to commute his death sentence.

They've also asked the Georgia Supreme Court for a stay of execution.

The 48-year-old Crowe was sentenced to die for robbing and killing Joseph Pala, a manager at the Wicke's Lumber Store in Douglas County, in March 1988. Crowe's lawyer says the attack was fueled by a withdrawal from cocaine and that he's been rehabilitated.
