Storm watch lifted

A tropical storm watch that had been issued for the coast along South Georgia and Florida has been discontinued, the National Weather Service announced Thursday morning.

The service reported this morning that the first named tropical storm of the year, Andrea, was drifting south about 100 miles east-southeast of Jacksonville. Sustain winds had dropped to about 35 mph.

The service said the was likely to continue to weaken and to remain offshore.
