Three people killed in early morning crash
Two victims from Liberty County, one from Bryan County

Three people were killed after what is being called a wrong-way crash on Highway 196 Friday morning.

According to Liberty County Fire Services Chief Brian Darby, his firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 196 near the intersection of Arcadia Drive. Firefighters found two people deceased inside a SUV headed toward Highway 17 that struck head-on a sedan headed toward Highway 84. One person was inside the sedan.

Michael S. Brooks, 48, of Liberty County, was identified as the driver of the 2013 Toyota Corolla sedan. The driver of the 2013 Acura RDX was identified as Jason Carmon, 33, of Bryan County, and the passenger has been identified as Alexandria L. Freeman, 23, of Liberty County.

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) was called into investigate the accident, which occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Friday.  The roadway was closed for several hours.
