The Investigation Discovery channel will premiere an episode of “Deadly Devotion” focusing on the deaths of Tiffany York and Michael Roark at 9 tonight, with a repeat at midnight.
Investigation Discovery is on Hinesville cable channel 111, or high-definition channel 387.
This episode takes a look at the events surrounding the deaths of York and Roark in December 2011 in Long County by a militia group known as F.E.A.R. (Forever Enduring Always Ready), which Roark was a member of.
Less than a week after identification by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, soldiers Sgt. Anthony Peden, PFC. Michael Burnett, Pvt. Isaac Aguigui and Pvt. Christopher Salmon of the 4thInfantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rdInfantry Division, were arrested for being possible suspects of the deaths of York and Roark.
All four suspects were denied bond by the Long County Court. Salmon and Peden faced malice murder charges, and Aguigui and Burnett faced charges for being party to a murder.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also began investigating them for weapons trafficking.
In May 2012, the four original suspects — as well as new suspect Heather Salmon, Christopher’s wife — were charged with two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, two counts of possession of firearm during the commission of a crime, and two counts of aggravated assault by the Long County Superior Court.
Burnett pleaded guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter in exchange for a testimony against the other four suspects, which revealed that Roark and the suspects were a part of a militia group of active-duty soldiers or former military and had a terror plot against the United States government.
It also was uncovered that the group spent $87,000 on guns and bomb components, and ringleader Aguigui funded the militia with his late pregnant wife’s life insurance, worth $500,000. They had plans to take over Fort Stewart, bomb the Forsyth Park fountain in Savannah, and ultimately overthrow the government and assassinate the president.
Aguigui also was charged by Fort Stewart for the murder of his wife and unborn child in April 2013. He later pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and was sentenced to life in prison. In March 2014, he was found guilty for the death of his wife.
Peden and Salmon recently pleaded guilty in Long County Superior Court for firing shots and murdering York and Roark. They also received life sentences.
