Underwood to serve on two GMA advisory councils
Patrick Underwood

Walthourville City Council member Patrick Underwood has been appointed to serve on the Georgia Municipal Association’s Workplace Culture Advisory Council for 2026-27.

The role of the council is to recommend initiatives, programs and policies that support city officials in enhancing community engagement and workplace culture across Georgia’s cities.

Council member Eric Joyce of Madison is serving in his second year as advisory council chair.

Underwood also has been reappointed to the GMA’s Children and Youth Advisory Council for 2026-27.

The role of that council is to recommend programs, training, research and other initiatives that should be undertaken by GMA or GMA’s non-profit, GeorgiaForward, to address the needs of children and youth in Georgia’s cities. It also serves to provide a forum for city officials to explore opportunities for collaboration with GMA and GeorgiaForward with agencies and organizations whose mission focuses on assisting children and youth, to foster the exchange of ideas and information on programs that have proven to have had a positive impact on children and youth and to propose legislative policies to the appropriate GMA policy committees that would help address children and youth issues.

Mayor Jason Holt of Fitzgerald is the Children and Youth Advisory Council chair.
