A woman was critically injured in the evening of May 7, when her vehicle slammed into a tractor with a mower attached to the rear.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper, Lyle Thurmond, the driver of the tractor was traveling eastbound in the direction of Hinesville from Bryan County. According to Thurmond, the driver of the tractor was observing the proper safety procedures while traveling on the shoulder of Leroy Coffer Highway.
The woman driver who has not been identified was traveling in the right lane when she failed to maintain her lane striking the tractor. The impact caused he car to flip onto the side of the tractor. The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m.
The woman was seriously injured and flown to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah by a medical helicopter. The accident caused the shutdown of the eastbound lane for several hours. The accident is under investigation by GSP.
