Business play role in clean community
Keep Liberty Beautiful
Keep Liberty Beautiful logo

Our business community plays an important role in having a clean, attractive place to live, work and play. We recognize the effort that our local businesses make with our quarterly Win-dex Awards.  Nominations are being accepted through March 31.
These awards give you a chance to pick a business that you think deserves a pat on the back for looking good. In the last seven years, the Win-dex Awards have recognized over 60 local businesses that make the extra effort to present attractive, inviting appearances.
The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and Keep Liberty Beautiful sponsor the awards.
Take a look around for businesses that maintain clean, litter-free exteriors and right of ways; keep an attractive landscape; recently have upgraded or renovated; and maintain their roadways and/or frontages.
Also consider what sets the business apart from others.
We also take into consideration whether these businesses are active in local programs that promote a clean community, like Adopt Liberty and municipal cleanups in the spring and fall. That is a plus to us!
Nomination forms are available at the KLB office, 9397 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway, or by calling 880-4888; at the chamber office, 425 W. Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville, or by calling 368-4445; or emailing at klcb@coastalnow.net.
You can email your information directly by just including all of the information requested on the form. Fully explain why the business you’re nominating is deserving of this recognition.
Your vote counts!

Brighten Your Business
We often have a number of businesses share that participating in Great American Cleanup events in the spring is hard or impossible because these volunteer events normally are held on Saturdays, which are their busiest work days.
This year, we are offering Brighten Your Business, an opportunity for local businesses to have their own mini-cleanup events at their locations on a day during the week of their city’s cleanup.
Brighten Your Business is as easy as 1-2-3:
1 — Pick a date the week before your city’s citywide cleanup day (listed below)
2 — Contact KLB to confirm and borrow any cleanup supplies that you may need (litter reachers, safety vests, work gloves and trash bags). Supplies can be returned afterward to KLB or to your local city hall.
3 — Send us your info — date, who participated, and the activity that you chose — and a photo we can share on Facebook and our website.
You may decide to do a litter pick-up around your business or on your block. You could collect any litter outside in your frontage, right of way and parking area, or rake up leaves and limbs. You might want to clean up your parking lot or pick up cigarette litter around your curb. You might want to clean windows, doors and exteriors, or even plant a flower or two.
Participating businesses will be recognized in the Coastal Courier, on our KLB website and Facebook, and also at KLB’s annual volunteer appreciation on May 28. Participants also will be eligible for Win-dex Awards.
Here are the dates for the citywide cleanups (all events start at 8:30 a.m.):
March 7 — Treasure Savannah/Liberty
March 14 — Allenhurst, Walthourville
March 21 — Riceboro, Midway, East End Liberty
March 28 — Gum Branch
April 18 — Flemington
April 25 — Hinesville
All organizations, churches, businesses and civic clubs are encouraged to register. Call 880-4888, email klcb@coastalnow.net, or go to www.keeplibertybeautiful.org.
