I have never seen a president lie as much as President Barack Obama, except for maybe President Lyndon B. Johnson, who said that he wouldn’t bomb North Vietnam in order to win the election over Sen. Barry Goldwater. After being elected, he then turned around and bombed North Vietnam.
On Sept. 12, 2011, Obama said, “We can work together to create the jobs of the future by helping small business entrepreneurs, by investing in education and by making things the world buys. To create jobs, I am submitting the American Jobs Act of 2011. The Congress should pass it right away to get the economy moving now. The purpose of the American Jobs Act of 2011 is simple: put more people back to work and put more money in the pockets of working Americans.”
Does awarding a contract to Brazil for military aircraft put more Americans back to work? The Air Force needed 20 light attack aircraft for Afghanistan, but would not allow Hawker-Beechcraft, an American company with 80 years of aviation experience, to bid the project. If given to Hawker-Beechcraft, the project would have supported 1,400 jobs, according to www.airforcetimes.com. Instead, it was given to Sierra Nevada Corporation to be built in Brazil by Embraer.
“It is simply wrong for the Obama administration to hire a Brazilian company to handle national security when we have a qualified and competent American company that can do the job,” U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp,
R-Kansas, said.
The president talks about alternative energy jobs and has invested millions of our tax dollars in failed projects, such as Solyndra. Some companies, like BP Solar, have moved production to China because they couldn’t be competitive while manufacturing in the United States. The jobs being created by alternative energy are in China, not the United States.
Sen. James Inhofe, R-
Okla., ranking member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, said, “Boiler MACT is in dire need of a legislative fix, as it is one of the most ruinous and expensive EPA regulations. It will result in $1 billion in lost GDP and put 800,000 good paying American jobs, as well as our manufacturing base, at risk. That is why a majority of the Senate voted to rein in the EPA.”
“President Job Killer” claims that statistics show that unemployment has dropped to 8.3 percent (14 million unemployed), but what he is hiding is that unemployment statistics only count those looking for a job. Even the ultra-liberal Huffington Post claims there are another
5 million workers who are unemployed and have given up looking for jobs.
Of course, we can’t forget what he is doing to the military. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said that our Army will be cut back by up to 27,000 and the Marines by roughly 15,000. What are our veterans going to do for jobs?
Obamacare will make an already bad economic picture worse. Unskilled workers are struggling to find employment, and the president’s health-care law will make finding full-time jobs even more difficult because Obamacare requires high health-care coverage, which will prevent people from being hired. Obama has never once put the country ahead of his own political aspirations and ideology.
In 2009, the U.S. State Department said it believed there were 5.3 million Americans living overseas. So, as you leave the United States and move to Brazil, China or India looking for a job, don’t forget to turn off the lights when you leave.
