Generosity helps food pantry provide Thanksgiving meals
Placeholder Image

Editor,
Long lines of needy folks hoping to get a turkey and trimmings for their Thanksgiving meals stood outside Manna House on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I noticed several people walking home with their food rather than driving.
These folks would have been out of luck this year if it wasn’t for the generosity of many thoughtful individuals, churches, businesses, school groups and professional organizations. Manna House simply did not have enough money to buy the turkeys and would not have provided Thanksgiving baskets this year, but contributions started coming in early in November, and there were many more than usual. Perhaps thoughtful citizens realized their neighbors were more in need this year and word seemed to get around that Manna House was short on cash. The result was 358 baskets provided to make 786 folks have a better Thanksgiving.
