Editor, The Long County Blue Tide Band is in great need of help from the surrounding communities.
The Long County Blue Tide Band is No. 1 in the state of Georgia for its division. The students have won first place in every competition. Because of the band members’ hard work, practice and dedication, they had the wonderful opportunity to play at the 2014 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Due to the many outstanding performances, awards and national status, the band also has been invited to play in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago. The band is the only school from Georgia invited to attend, and it’s such a major honor for our students.
The students have held multiple fundraisers but, sadly, we are coming up extremely short to cover the cost of the trip. We are asking for help from surrounding communities, businesses and residents. Please consider sponsoring these fantastic children. Let’s not allow this prestigious opportunity to pass them by. It saddens me as a parent and a band booster-club member to know that we may have to cancel this trip if we can’t raise enough money by Nov 1. No donation is too small.
