May is the observance of Older Americans Month
Letter to the Editor generic

Dear Editor,

Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads our nation’s observance of Older Americans Month. The 2021 theme, “Communities of Strength” encourages older adults and their communities to:

Reinforce their strengths.

Create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment.

Connect with others.

Communities that encourage the contributions of older adults are stronger! By engaging and supporting all community members, we recognize that older adults play a key role in the vitality of our neighborhoods, networks, and lives.

While raising families and building careers, older Americans also gave back to their communities in a variety of ways. In their lifetime, times have changed, and they continue to volunteer and serve their neighborhoods in their own ways. Whether they mentored a child, volunteered at a soup kitchen or served their country, each one deserves recognition for their commitment.

During Older Americans Month, Your Family Hospice will be hosting an Older Americans Month Essay contest for all middle school students in Liberty County. For more information contact:: Andrea Valdez, MS Director of Marketing  AT  avaldez@your-familyhospice.com or 912-332-7969 for an application.  Contest is open May 1st to May 15th with prizes for top 3 student essays. #ShareYourStory
